| Paintball Ended in a Tie...Sort Of!! |
|
It was definitely a hard fought battle... but no clear winner was determined!
We split into two orderly groups and calmly set-up on opposite sides of the obstacle rich battle field. 3...2...1... "GAME ON" and chaos ensued! Both sides scattered! No planning, no strategy, no thinking beyond find a spot to hide! Oil drums, wooden barricades, and various other object including an old school bus became our cover. Quickly the air was filled with hundreds of paint balls flying back and forth and the constant sound of shots being fired and people yelling at one another, "He's over there!... behind the wooden thingy!... not that wooden thingy, the other one!!" The first game went to Ryno's, the second to Devlin's. After that, we just lost track as new players showed up and joined our various teams. Pretty much everyone got hit a few times but I'd have to say Curtis won the "Who's covered with the most paint" contest. He made the somewhat strategically questionable maneuver of hiding behind a small picket fence with plenty of narrow gaps. Two teenage boys had him pinned down for several minutes as they showered the fence with paint. When the game ended, Curtis emerged from behind the fence with a lovely even coating of yellow paint on one side of him. It was a great time and although I had great ideas about filming some of the action while in the field and sharing it on the site; it became very apparent early on that trying to film in those conditions was close to impossible. Any footage I did get was almost unrecognizable due to adrenaline hand shaking or out of breath panting. I did manage to get a few shots of the wounds and our preparation. Many thanks to everyone over at Devlin's for hosting the after battle BBQ. And congrats to everyone who took part.... I'm sure this won't be the last time we go at it!
